Man fatally shot Saturday in N.O. East

A 24-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday night in New Orleans East, according to Officer Hilal Williams, a spokeswoman for the Police Department. Williams said the incident happened at 11 p.m. in the 5100 block of Bundy Road.

The man was later identified as Johnny Young by John Gagliano, chief investigator for the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office.

Williams said officers found Young lying in the parking lot of the Lakewind East Apartments with multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

Young was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

Police did not immediately have any suspects or a motive in the shooting.

St. Roch homicide victim identified

A man killed Friday night in the St. Roch neighborhood was identified Sunday as Danny Elay.

John Gagliano, chief investigator for the Coroner’s Office, said Elay, 33, was the man police found about 8 p.m. in the 2600 block of North Rocheblave Street.

Elay was slumped over in his white BMW and was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been shot numerous times, according to police.

Police have yet to name any suspects in the killing.

Woman sought in N.O. carjacking

New Orleans police are looking for a woman they believe is responsible for a carjacking last week.

According to a statement from the Police Department, Shameka “Moonie” Patin, 27, and a friend approached a man at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at a convenience store.

Police said Patin asked the man for a ride for her and a friend to the 800 block of Belleville Street. When they arrived, someone approached the victim’s armed with a handgun and demanded his property. The victim fled on foot, his vehicle was taken and Patin and her friend disappeared.

Three men wanted in armed robbery

New Orleans police are searching for three men in connection with an armed robbery that occurred Wednesday in the River Garden neighborhood.

The incident happened about 9 p.m. in the 600 block of Third Street, according to a statement from the department.

Police said two men with guns approached a pedestrian, pushed him against a wall and stole his cellphone.

The third suspect was waiting inside a silver SUV, according to the statement.

Man’s body found Sunday in river

A man’s body was found Sunday afternoon in the Mississippi River, according to Mark Gresham, a spokesman for the New Orleans Harbor Police.

Gresham said officials found the body about 3:50 p.m. near the Gov. Nicholls Street Wharf.

No other details were available.
