Two robbed in Mid-City by gunman on bicycle

About 5 p.m. Friday, a man, 37, was robbed near South Gayoso and Palmyra streets by a gunman who took $150 from him and pedaled away on a bicycle.

Thirty minutes later, a woman, 27, was robbed two blocks away, near South White and Palmyra, by a gunman who took her purse and fled on a bicycle.

Girl says male student sexually assaulted her

A 14-year-old girl told police in the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on Friday that she was sexually assaulted in early January by a male student at her school.

Police provided no other details.

Man shot in hip on S. Claiborne Avenue

Just before midnight Friday, a man, 49, reported being shot in the hip near South Claiborne Avenue and First Street in Central City.

The victim was taken to a hospital. He said he did not know his assailant.

N.O. man, 58, dies in St. John Parish crash

Adrian Baudry III, 58, of New Orleans, died as the result of a one-vehicle crash about 2 p.m. Friday on Interstate 10 in St. John the Baptist Parish, State Police said.

Troopers said Baudry, traveling eastbound, ran his 2008 Volvo tractor-trailer off the road and struck a tree near mile post 208.5. He died at the scene.

Though the crash remains under investigation, neither speed nor driver impairment is suspected. Troopers said a medical condition may have led to the crash.

2 caught by Slidell police after chase

After a high-speed chase Friday, Slidell police booked two men on “a multitude of charges” including burglary and traffic offenses.

The chase began about 2:30 p.m. when driver Leonardo Cameron, 20, refused to comply with a traffic stop on Robert Boulevard, police said. Cameron, of Lauderhill, Florida, led police down Gause Boulevard at high speeds before crashing his white Chrysler 300 sedan near Northshore Square Mall.

Cameron was captured after a brief foot chase. His passenger, Adrian McDonald, 23, of Greenville, Kentucky, initially eluded officers, but a police dog found him hiding under a house. He was treated for dog-bite wounds and taken to jail.

Slidell police said an investigation revealed that Cameron and McDonald had committed several vehicle burglaries in the area by breaking car windows and stealing valuables from inside the cars. Detectives said they believe the two men may have committed crimes across the Gulf South.

JPSO reports stabbings and armed robbery

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office reported these crimes:

A woman was stabbed before 7 p.m. Friday in the 6300 block of Acre Road in Marrero.

Two men were robbed at gunpoint before 8 p.m. Friday in the 5100 block of Mount Matterhorn Avenue in Marrero. They were not injured.

A woman was stabbed before 7 a.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Wilker Neal Avenue in Metairie.
