Sisters of the Holy Family name new congregational leader _lowres

Sister M. Greta Jupiter has been elected congregational leader at the 14th General Chapter of the Sisters of the Holy Family in New Orleans. She previously served as the interim congregational leader from February through June 2014 and as the first general councilor from June 2010 to February 2014.

An installation Mass was recently held at the Sisters of the Holy Family Motherhouse, 6901 Chef Menteur Blvd.

Jupiter holds a master of education degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of New Orleans and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry education from Xavier University. She has administrative experience as a local leader, associate superintendent, president and principal of schools.

Jupiter said her hopes are to continue and promote the mission of Venerable Henriette Delille and the spirituality of the Sisters of the Holy Family; to carry out the mandates of the General Chapter; to encourage vocations to the religious life; and to care for her elderly sisters.

Assisting her is the newly elected leadership team: Sister Leona Bruner, first general councilor; Sister Clare of Assisi Pierre, second general councilor; Sister Alicia Costa, third general councilor; Sister Geneva James, fourth general councilor; Sister Angela Smith, fifth general councilor; and Sister Richard Francis Daigle, sixth general councilor. The leadership team is elected for a four-year term.
