Three people were shot in the St. Roch neighborhood on Monday afternoon, New Orleans Police said.

The shooting occurred around 5:51 p.m. on the 1800 block of Almonaster Avenue, police said. The victims are being transported to a local hospital.

Minutes after the shooting a bicycle lay toppled over on the ground near the Fame Food Mart. The convenience store sits in an area between Franklin and Almonaster avenues dubbed "The Triangle" by police.

One man who declined to give his name said he was outside nearby when he herd three shots, then two more. He raced inside with children who had been playing outside across the street from the shooting.

5th District officers canvassed the area for shell casings. On Friday, some of the same officers responded to a double shooting on A.P. Tureaud Avenue.
