New Orleans police reports six armed robberies occurred across the city Wednesday in about a 10-hour span.
Here's a summary of each incident based on preliminary NOPD information:
-- Around 2 p.m., two men in their 50s in the 3300 block of Montegut Street in the Desire area were working when they both were approached by two armed subjects who robbed them of their clothing, money and other personal items.
-- Around 4 p.m. in the 2100 block of St. Bernard Avenue (a few blocks away from McDonogh 42 Elementary Charter School), a Boost Mobile store was robbed as two subjects entered the store, pulled out guns, took money from the register and other items then fled.
-- Around 8:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of St. Anthony Street (in the 7th Ward), a man in his 60s was approached by an armed suspect who demanded his belongings. The robber fled the scene with the victim’s chain and pants.
-- Around 11 p.m. at the corner of Pitt and General Pershing Streets (near the corner of St. Charles and Napoleon Avenues), two 29-year-old men were standing near their vehicles talking when a vehicle approached with its lights off. Two unknown armed men exited the vehicle demanding money from one of the victims, who refused and was struck several times with a gun. The other victim tried to help his friend then was also struck several times with a gun. The robbers fled after one of the men handed over money to the robbers.
-- Around 11:45 p.m. in the 4800 block of Werner Drive (in New Orleans East), a woman in her 20s was dropping off a co-worker when she was blocked in by two vehicles. An armed man exited one of the vehicles demanding she and her passenger exit the vehicle. She complied, and the robbers fled in her car.
-- Around 11:45 p.m. near the intersection of Flanders Street and Caesar Drive (in Algiers), a 20-year-old man was walking in the area when two armed men approached and demanded his property. The victim complied, and the man fled.
NOPD hasn't indicated if any of the robberies are related.
