Update, 10:45 a.m. Wednesday: New Orleans police are looking for two men wanted in connection with a shooting that left a 24-year-old man critically injured Tuesday in the 100 block of South Rampart Street, just off Canal Street.
Around 2:30 p.m., officers in the area heard gunfire near the intersection of Canal and South Rampart streets, the New Orleans Police Department said in a news release. They found the victim in the middle of the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Surveillance footage captured the two suspects running on foot from South Rampart Street toward Common Street, police said.

A 24-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot several times in the 100 block of South Rampart just off of Canal Street on Tuesday afternoon, New Orleans police said.
Officer Garry Flot, a Police Department spokesman, said the man was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition after being shot shortly after 2:30 p.m. Police believe the perpetrator fled upriver toward Tulane Avenue.
One man working nearby, who declined to give his name, said he heard roughly eight shots.
An hour after the shooting, State Police and NOPD vehicles blocked off Rampart Street in both directions.
