The robotics team from Academy of Our Lady in Marrero recently participated in the Bayou Regional First Robotics competition at the Pontchartrain Center.
The competition brought together more than 55 teams from Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina.
Teams had six weeks to design, build and code robots to complete a variety of tasks in a game called First Stronghold, with a medieval-castle theme. Tasks included breaking through obstacle defenses and pitching balls into a castle tower.
“This competition helped students develop engineering, programming, problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills in an engaging and entertaining setting, skills they will continue to apply throughout their education and into their future careers,” robotics coach Amy Morris said.
