The New Orleans Police Department is asking city residents to apply for the Citizen’s Police Academy, an eight-week course billed as providing an insider’s look at the force.

Sessions will focus on community policing, patrol duties, cutting-edge new technologies, the crime lab, and more, according to the Police Department. The program runs from June 22 to August 10, on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at various department facilities.

Applicants must be 21 years or older and a city resident. To register, residents can contact the NOPD Community Engagement unit at (504) 658-5590, or sylbrown@nola.gov.
