Traffic on Magazine Street will be detoured between Nashville and Jefferson avenues starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday as crews begin emergency repairs to a damaged drainage line in the 5700 block of Magazine. The city said repairs are being expedited to be completed before Carnival parades begin.
No through traffic will be allowed on Magazine between Nashville and Jefferson. Local traffic will be permitted.
Vehicular traffic on Magazine traveling toward downtown will be diverted onto Nashville Avenue and Tchoupitoulas Street before returning to Magazine at Jefferson.
Traffic on Magazine traveling toward Audubon Park will be detoured at Jefferson to St. Charles Avenue.
The Sewerage & Water Board also announced two expected disruptions to water service on Wednesday.
Residents and businesses along Nashville between Pitt Street and Coliseum Street and along Perrier Street between Nashville and Jefferson will experience low water pressure from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday as workers cut and cap a 12-inch water main in the area.
Also, residents and businesses along Coliseum Street between Constantinople Street and Napoleon Avenue will experience low water pressure from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday as workers tie in a 20-inch water line. The Audubon Charter School will not be affected by this work.
