A New Orleans couple were placed on probation Monday after pleading guilty to recreational fishing license fraud.

Derwin Hill, 60, and Diana Hill, 60, were ordered to pay a fine of $1,500 each for filing false public records, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

The couple admitted forging a fishing license to make a false claim for lost earnings in the fishing industry after the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
