3 shot, 1 fatally, Saturday in N.O.

A man was fatally shot about 6 p.m. Saturday at Pauger Street and St. Claude Avenue in Marigny, Officer Hilal Williams, a New Orleans police spokeswoman, said.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No other information was immediately available.

Two other shootings were reported Saturday in the city.

A man suffered a gunshot wound to the foot about noon at St. Philip and Derbigny streets in Treme.

Later, a woman sustained a gunshot wound to the body about 6:30 p.m. at Gen. Meyer Avenue and Sullen Place in Algiers.

Police report three armed robberies

Three armed robberies happened Friday in New Orleans, police reported.

The first one happened in Algiers just before 10 a.m., when a 31-year-old woman was held up at gunpoint while sitting in her car in the 3800 block of Gen. de Gaulle Drive, police said.

A man with a gun tapped on her window and threatened to shoot her if she didn’t roll it down. After she did so, the robber asked for her wallet and her purse, police said. He took a bank envelope containing $1,000, threw her purse back into the car and fled.

The second robbery happened about 6 p.m. in Gentilly, where the Boost Mobile store in the 5200 block of Elysian Fields Avenue was held up by two men, one of whom had a handgun.

The robber with the gun demanded that the cashier empty the cash register, which he did. The second man acted as a lookout. They fled with about $700.

The first robber was wearing a gray hoodie, black pants and a bandana over his face. The second man was wearing a black hoodie and black pants.

Just before 9 p.m., a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver was robbed of two pizzas and his cash in Central City.

The driver was delivering an order to South Liberty and Foucher streets when a man with a revolver demanded his money, police said. The robber took $40 and two pizzas before running away.

Child raped by teenager in Gentilly

A 4-year-old girl was raped by a 15-year-old Friday night in Gentilly, according to New Orleans police.

The assault was reported on St. Anthony Street about 7:30 p.m.

Fireboat rescues two sailors during regatta

The New Orleans Fire Department rescued two sailors after a sailboat capsized during the Mardi Gras Regatta being held Saturday on Lake Pontchartrain, department officials said.

Fireboat Blaze responded to the capsized sailboat about 10:30 a.m. It found two female sailors from the University of Notre Dame in distress.

The women had attempted to right the 14-foot sailboat themselves but grew tired and signaled for assistance, according to the Fire Department. The crew of the fireboat pulled them from the water and towed the sailboat to shore.

The two women were not injured.

Shooting reported Friday in Jean Lafitte

A shooting was reported Friday night in Jean Lafitte, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

A man was shot shortly before midnight at August Lane and Jean Lafitte Boulevard. The wound was not life-threatening.

Woman cut Saturday afternoon in Marrero

A woman was cut in Marrero about 1 p.m. Saturday, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was cut in the 5100 block of Mount Whitney Drive. The wound was not life-threatening.

No other information was immediately available.
