ROSARY LADIES: Padua Pediatrics, an intermediate care facility for developmentally delayed children and young adults, recently received a donation of colorful new linens from The Rosary Ladies, a group of women who have been gathering in prayer for more than 20 years.

The Rosary Ladies learned of the need at Padua Pediatrics through members involved in St. Elizabeth’s Guild, an advocate of children’s programs associated with the Archdiocese of New Orleans Catholic Charities.

KNIGHTEN RECEIVES GOSPEL MUSIC AWARD: Clark Knighten, chorus teacher at Academy of Our Lady High School, has been awarded the Gospel is Alive Award for 2014 by the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Foundation. The citation is awarded to people who help promote and keep alive the traditions of gospel music.

Knighten, a pianist, vocalist, director and composer, has performed at Jazz Fest a number of times with the choir from St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Marrero. He is the music director at Boynton United Methodist Church in Gretna and an accompanist at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Shrine to St. Jude in New Orleans.

Knighten is also the owner of Black Cat Productions, a music and event coordination company. He is a Xavier University graduate and has done postgraduate studies at UNO and Loyola University.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: United Fellowship Full Gospel Baptist Church will hold a vacation Bible school for youths ages 5-17 in June. Registration will be held May 25 and June 1.

The vacation Bible school theme will be “International Spy Academy,” with students in pursuit of the truth, as agents of God.

Vacation Bible school will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 9-13 at 2401 Annette St., New Orleans; and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 16-20 at 2100 Ames Blvd., Marrero.

Registration will take place after the 8:30 a.m. worship service May 25 and June 1 at 2011 Ames Blvd., Marrero; and after the 10:30 a.m. worship service May 25 and June 1 at 2401 Annette St., New Orleans.
