Dr. John and the Nite Trippers will follow the Aug. 19 release of his upcoming album, a Louis Armstrong tribute titled “Ske-Dat-De-Dat ... Spirit of Satch,” with a Sept. 20 concert at the Joy Theater in New Orleans.

Tickets for the show go on sale at 11 a.m. Friday. They will be available at www.thejoytheater.com.

“Ske-Dat-De-Dat … Spirit of Satch” features 13 classic songs from various phases of Armstrong’s five-decade career.

Dr. John collaborators and supporting players for the album include Bonnie Raitt, Ledisi, the McCrary Sisters, Anthony Hamilton, Shemekia Copeland, the Blind Boys of Alabama, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and trumpeters Nicholas Payton, Terence Blanchard, Arturo Sandoval, Wendell Brunious and James Andrews.

A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and winner of six Grammy awards, Dr. John received his latest Grammy for “Locked Down,” his 2012 album produced by Black Keys singer-guitarist Dan Auerbach.
