Two New Orleans firefighters were injured early Tuesday morning when a burning house partially collapsed on top of them.
They were among 45 firefighters battling a two-alarm blaze at a wood-frame camelback home in the 2400 block of Gladiolus Street in Gentilly around 12:30 a.m., according to the Fire Department.
The two firefighters, who were not identified, were trapped under debris when the back portion of the home collapsed, the NOFD said.
They were rescued, treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and released a short time later, according to the department.
Firefighters had the blaze under control at 1:05 a.m. No one else was injured.
The home was unoccupied; the utilities were shut off during the fire.
The cause remains under investigation.
