NORDC MOVIES IN THE PARK: The Movies in the Park series will screen “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2” on Friday beginning at sunset at Stallings Gentilly Playground, 2700 Laperyouse St. Hosted by the Stallings Gentilly Booster Club, there will be “Move Before the Movie” with a Zumba activity led by Fit NOLA Parks instructor Danielle Burrell. ‘CREOLE WORLD’: Vivàz will perform 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday as part of the Concerts in the Courtyard series at The Historic New Orleans Collection, 533 Royal St. Admission is free for THNOC members, and $10 for others. The concert is presented in connection with the “Creole World: Photographs of New Orleans and the Latin Caribbean Sphere” exhibition of works by Richard Sexton on display through Dec. 7 at the Laura Simon Nelson Galleries for Louisiana Art at 400 Chartres St. Gallery hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and admission is free.

NEW ORLEANS SIERRA CLUB: Thomas Sherry, of the Tulane University department of ecology and environmental biology, will discuss the threat to tropical birds from tropical forest loss and fragmentation in Central America during a meeting of the New Orleans Sierra Club at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in Dominion Auditorium at Audubon Zoo. ORCHID SOCIETY MEETS: The New Orleans Orchid Society will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the Garden Study Center of the City Park Botanical Gardens.

Ian Hiler, a member of the group, will give a presentation on miniature orchids.

CEMETERY FLAGS: Volunteers are needed to place and remove flags at each of the 15,000 headstones at Chalmette National Cemetery for Memorial Day. Flags will be put out beginning at 7:30 a.m. May 23 and will be removed and packaged for storage beginning at 7:30 a.m. May 27. Flag placement and removal each take 3-4 hours. MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY: A Memorial Day ceremony will be at 12:30 p.m. May 25 at Chalmette National Cemetery, 8606 W. St. Bernard Highway, Chalmette. Hosted by Vietnam Veterans of VFW Post 3798, the free program will include a color guard, bagpiper, remarks from post members and recognition of the 150th anniversary of the national cemetery’s establishment.

HABITAT ROMP RESCHEDULED: New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity will hold a community celebration from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 8, at Palmer Park, at South Carrollton and South Claiborne avenues in New Orleans. The second annual Habitat Romp has been rescheduled from May 10, but will still feature performances by the 610 Stompers and the Hot 8 Brass Band, and a backyard game competition.
