Wife booked after man stabbed to death

New Orleans police arrested a 32-year-old woman Tuesday in the fatal stabbing of her husband.

Katrina Tollette was booked on one count of second-degree murder. The name of the 42-year-old victim was not immediately released.

The stabbing happened inside a home in the 9200 block of Colapissa Street. Police said they responded to a call about 9:25 a.m. and found the man fatally stabbed to the chest.

Tollette was taken into custody after being questioned.

Coroner identifies Algiers shooting victim

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office on Tuesday released the name of a man fatally shot Sunday in Algiers.

Jeren Johnson, 25, was found fatally shot after a crash in the 2600 block of Gen. Collins Avenue. Police said he was found inside a Nissan Altima that had struck a parked pickup.

He had been sitting in the front passenger seat when someone in the back seat opened fire, according to authorities.

The driver of the Altima, a 20-year-old man, was injured in the crash.

Man sought by police in armed robbery spree

New Orleans police said Tuesday they have identified a man believed to have committed a series of armed robberies this month.

Officers were looking for 36-year-old Randy Brightman in connection with at least three stick-ups.

Two of the robberies — each targeting a man and a woman — happened Friday in the 300 block of South Lopez Street and the 3200 block of Conti Street. The third robbery happened early Saturday morning in the 100 block of South Dupre Street.

NOPD: 7th Ward carjacker being sought

Police are trying to identify a man who robbed two people at gunpoint in the 7th Ward and drove off in the car.

It happened Monday night in the 1700 block of Marais Street. Police said a man had been standing outside a parked Honda Accord when a gunman approached him.

The gunman also robbed a passenger and then drove away in the Honda. He was described as a black man in his early 20s with a thin build, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing a red baseball cap, a tan vest and a white long-sleeve shirt, police said.

Two other carjackings were reported Monday night, both of which targeted women. The first happened about 9 p.m. in the 5000 block of Wilton Drive. The second happened about 10:30 p.m. in the 10100 block of Curran Boulevard.

Man booked in cutting of woman in Gentilly

New Orleans police arrested Joseph Dalton, 63, on Monday and booked him on aggravated battery.

Police said Dalton was involved in a verbal altercation in the 5100 block of Arts Street with a 40-year-old woman that turned physical about 10 a.m. Police said he cut her in the hand with a machete, but the woman did not require medical attention.

A magistrate judge ordered Dalton held for a future hearing.

Man pleads not guilty in ‘good Samaritan’ case

Euric Cain, the 21-year-old man accused of shooting Tulane medical student Peter Gold in a dramatic incident caught on video, pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and several other counts before Criminal District Court Judge Robin Pittman on Tuesday.

Gold was trying to help a woman who apparently was being abducted and robbed.

The judge assigned Cain a public defender.

Cain’s girlfriend, Nictoria Washington, pleaded not guilty to serving as an accessory after the fact to attempted murder. She has retained a private attorney.
