Ogden Museum of Southern Art will present its annual Family Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 925 Camp St.
The free event will feature a variety of art activities inspired by a Southern county fair, as well as games and performances geared toward children of all ages. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
Begun in 2008, the annual event opens the museum to all and provides families with an interactive experience that blends country fun with an engaging exploration of the Ogden’s current exhibitions. Art activities will include creating soft-sculpture pies for a pie contest, fanciful hats, pinwheels and a hobby-horse. Family Fair also will feature games for young visitors including an art scavenger hunt, Go Fish, ring toss and Pin the Tail on the Universal Mule by Jack Niven, plus a family photo booth.
Entertainment includes performances by Johnette Downing, Calliope Puppets, The New Orleans Suzuki Forum and the Ogden Museum Teen Docent Puppet Theater.
“We place a great value on inviting the community into the museum, free of charge, in order to increase access to the most comprehensive collection of Southern art in the world. The Family Fair is an excellent opportunity for folks of all ages to experience the Ogden Museum,” Director William Andrews said.
