At approximately 7:30 pm this evening, a Lacombe woman drove herself to the Louisiana Heart Hospital after being shot in the head by her ex-boyfriend.

The man was identified as Ronald Anthony Brown of 107 Windsong Place, Pearl River.

The woman reported that when she entered her residence this evening she discovered Brown inside armed with a weapon. After a physical struggle between the two, the woman attempted to flee the residence in her vehicle. Brown shot her through the car’s window as she was leaving.

Out of precaution, the hospital was placed on lock-down, as an initial report indicated a vehicle similar to Brown’s (a 2000 silver Dodge Stratus) was seen in the area. The lock-down has since been lifted.

Deputies canvassed the area surrounding the hospital but did not locate a vehicle matching that description. A search for Brown ensued, concentrated on the eastern side of the parish where he had known associates.

Just after 9:00 pm, deputies located Brown on Boy Scout Rd. in Lacombe and took him into custody without incident. His weapon was also located and recovered.

Brown will be booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on one count of attempted murder.

According to hospital staff, the woman’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening; although, she is still undergoing evaluation and treatment.
