Man in critical condition after suspect shoots him near Hollygrove intersection without saying a word, relative says _lowres

The bullets did the talking in Hollygrove on Tuesday.

Donald Stewart said an unidentified assailant did not utter a word when he jumped out of a car, walked across the street and shot Stewart’s great-nephew in the middle of a group of people near the corner of Gen. Ogden and Olive streets about 1 p.m. The shooter then got back in the car and drove away.

Stewart said he watched in horror from nearby.

The victim was shot several times in the body and was taken to a hospital in critical condition, a New Orleans Police Department spokesman said.

Stewart said his relative ran a short distance on Olive Street before collapsing in front of a friend’s house.
