A woman armed with a knife robbed a Central Business District bank Wednesday morning, the FBI said.

The unidentified robber walked in to the Fidelity Homesteads Savings Bank, 321 St. Charles Ave., about 10:30 a.m. and pulled out a knife and demanded money, said Mary Beth Romig, a spokeswoman for the FBI’s New Orleans field office.

The robber also implied she had a gun but did not pull out any other weapons.

She fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, running down St. Charles Avenue toward Canal Street before turning onto a side street, Romig said.

The robber is described as a black woman in her late 30s to mid-40s and about 5-foot-8 with acne scars and skin discoloration along her chin and jaw line.

She wore a “sweaty” gray T-shirt, a black fitted cap and dark-rimmed glasses.

Anyone with information on the robbery or the identity of the robber is asked to contact the FBI at (504) 816-3000 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
