A portion of Jefferson Avenue in Uptown New Orleans will close for more than a year as crews install a drainage culvert.
The riverbound side of Jefferson between Atlanta and Prytania streets will be closed Monday and remain closed for about 14 months, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said.
The closure will make Jefferson a one-way street with only lakebound lanes open between Prytania and Danneel streets. Riverbound traffic can use Nashville Avenue as an alternate route.
The work is part of the Southeast Louisiana Drainage Project. The entire project is expected to be done by 2018.
