Alvar Arts is a monthly program featuring area artists, musicians, filmmakers and writers for the enrichment of neighbors and culture lovers from all over the city. The format of the program includes a 45- to 75-minute presentation and/or performance of work by the artist, followed by a question-and-answer period. The program runs about two hours, and snacks are provided.

This month’s featured guest is artist Charles Anderson.

The mission of Anderson’s art “is to actively contribute to New Orleans’ reduction in homicide through artistic expression by supporting and glorifying people who use nonviolence to confront violence, who help build a life-affirming culture and who are noble role models for our community.”

Alvar Arts is hosted the second Tuesday of every month. The June Alvar Arts program will be conducted from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 9 from at the Alvar Library.
