NewYork City's Martinez Academy of Arms presented a free public demonstration of 17th to 19th century fencing styles with a variety of weapons. It was the culmination of a three day conference by the Academy. Weapons such as the Italian rapier, the Spanish rapier and dagger and the French epee were used. Ramon Martinez, founder of the academy, said they chose New Orleans for their conference because of its long history of fencing schools and dueling.
