MANDEVILLE —The Volunteers of America of Greater New Orleans’ RSVP Volunteers gathered recently at the Fleur De Lis Event Center in Mandeville for an annual recognition luncheon to celebrate almost 50,000 hours of community service in 2012. The luncheon theme was “RSVP Volunteers Are the Bee’s Knees.”
The volunteers presented John Tobin, director of the St. Tammany Parish Department of Health and Human Services, with a check for more than $1 million representing approximately $20 for each hour of service performed in 2012 by volunteers.
The presentation was made by Grace Wild, director of the RSVP program, and accepted for Tobin by Tom Grace and Bob Rhoden.
