Convicted killer Terry Speaks will now be sentenced July 9, a day later than originally scheduled.

Speaks, who was convicted Friday of second-degree murder, obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice in the murder of Jaren Lockhart, will get automatic life in prison without benefit of parole, probation or suspended sentence on the murder count alone.

Margaret Sanchez, his alleged accomplice in the murder and dismemberment, has a status hearing scheduled in court for the same day before Judge Stephen Grefer in 24th Judicial District Court in Gretna.

It is not clear whether they will be in the courtroom at the same time. They have been in opposite ends of the jury box for pretrial hearings at least once, where they made eye contact with one another.

Lockhart was last seen alive in the early morning hours of June 6, 2012, leaving Temptations Gentlemen’s Club on Bourbon Street with Speaks and Sanchez. The couple’s car was picked up by license plate recognition cameras in Kenner about 20 minutes later, and then the following evening entering and leaving Mississippi in a two-hour span.

Pieces of Lockhart’s body began washing up on the shores of Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches the next day.

No trial date has been set for Sanchez.
