A woman allegedly assaulted a City Hall employee after she was unable to speak with a council member Monday, New Orleans police said.

Just before 2 p.m. Monday, Tamisah Bickham, 38, walked into the Mayor’s Office at New Orleans City Hall at 1300 Perdido Street and asked to speak with a council member, the New Orleans Police Department said in a preliminary offense log.

The City Hall employee, 43, told the woman that the council member was not available. When the employee turned her head, Bickham allegedly struck her with a metal coat hanger, police said.

A physical altercation ensued. The victim sustained a head contusion, neck injury and bruising, police said. Bickham injured her neck. Both were taken to an area hospital.
