After advancing through auditions, talented teens from across the city will compete at the NOLA Teen Vocal and Dance Competition from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday at Lyons Rec Center, 624 Louisiana Ave.
Produced by the NORDC Teen Council and hosted by R&B singer Kevin Stylez, the event also will feature performances by special guests Rebirth Brass Band and Kourtney Heart. General admission is $5.
“We are thrilled to showcase talented and diverse individuals and groups of singers, dancers and spoken-word artists,” said Leonard Zanders, NORDC Teen Programs manager. “This will be the first public performances for some acts, while others have been performing for years.”
Supported by Chevron, the NORDC Teen Council is a free year-round program open to any New Orleans resident aged 12 to 17.
“This is a great, positive program that helps teens develop leadership and social skills” Zanders said. “The teens also get hands-on event production experience.”
