1 arrested, 1 sought in Algiers burglaries
New Orleans police said Monday they have arrested 26-year-old Jaleesah Walker and issued an arrest warrant for 25-year-old Dale Plato in connection with five home burglaries in Algiers.
The burglaries took place Jan. 12 in the 2100 block of St. Nick Drive, Tennyson Place, the 300 block of Maumus Avenue, the 2600 block of Hyman Place and the 3900 block of South Inwood Avenue.
In all five incidents, the burglars drove up in a red Jeep Wrangler, kicked in the rear doors and burglarized the residences, police said.
Witnesses gave a description of the burglars and said they had fled in the Jeep Wrangler with Mississippi license plate HGB 154.
On Saturday, detectives located the Jeep in front of an apartment in the 4500 block of MacArthur Boulevard. They said they executed a search warrant for the location and found several items that were stolen in the burglaries.
Detectives found Walker at the apartment, and she allegedly admitted her involvement in the burglaries. She was taken to Central Lockup and booked on five counts of burglary. Detectives also secured an arrest warrant for Plato on five counts of burglary.
Home invaded, robbed Sunday in Algiers
A man was in bed about 10:30 a.m. Sunday when two robbers broke into his residence in the 5500 block of Tullis Drive in Algiers, police said.
The first robber pointed a gun at the victim, 27, and told him to lie still on the floor. He then opened the front door for his accomplice, who also displayed a gun and asked where the money was, according to police.
The pair ransacked the house, stealing property and cash, before fleeing.
Police arrest felon on carrying a gun
New Orleans police arrested Bradley Jackson, 25, and booked him on counts of illegal carrying of a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
About 4:45 p.m. Friday, officers saw three men standing outside a corner store in the 4000 block of Gen. Ogden Street. As the officers got closer, one of the suspects allegedly signaled the other two, and they all went into the store.
When officers approached Jackson, they found a gun under his shirt in his waistband, and they learned he was a convicted felon. The other two men were questioned and released.
South Claiborne Subway robbed again
Last week, a man knocked over four Subway restaurants, including the one in the 2700 block of South Claiborne Avenue, which was robbed Jan. 11, according to police.
About 6:30 p.m. Sunday, an armed man walked into the same Subway and demanded and got money from the cashier.
He was described as a black man, 50 to 60 years old, wearing a stocking cap, a black jacket, black jeans and black and white tennis shoes.
Man stabbed during fight in Lower 9th Ward
During a fight, a man was stabbed several times in the 500 block of St. Maurice Avenue in the Lower 9th Ward.
The victim, 52, was taken to a hospital, where he was in stable condition, according to police.
Shooting reported Sunday in Algiers
A man, 20, was at the intersection of Woodland Drive and Tullis Drive in Algiers about 10 p.m. Sunday when he heard gunfire. He realized he was shot in the arm and made his way to a hospital.
