A series of workshops, roundtable discussions and performances will bring attendees from out of town to meet participants and presenters in New Orleans during the Network of Ensemble Theater’s MicroFest USA on Thursday through Sunday, organizers said.
MicroFest New Orleans’ theme, “Renew,” is a nod to advances in performing art and social justice in the Crescent City since Hurricane Katrina.
The festival will feature local performances, learning exchanges, neighborhood tours and food.
New Orleans-based performance ensembles Artspot Productions, Cripple Creek Theatre Co., Goat in the Road Productions, Mondo Bizarro and NEW NOISE will share their work, as will social justice organizations such as the Louisiana Bucket Brigade, Moving Forward Gulf Coast, New Orleans Workers’ Center for Social Justice, Angola 3, Kids ReThink New Orleans Schools, and developers and community partners with interests along the St. Claude Corridor.
Other MicroFests have been staged in Detroit; Knoxville, Tenn.; and Harlan, Ky.
Events are open to the public, with registration and admission fees. Discounts available for local residents.
Reduced rates exist for locals and NET members.
