UPDATE 1:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21: Orleans Parish Coroner Jeffrey Rouse has identified the man shot to death in Gentilly Friday as James Sargon Jr., 22. Cause of death was a gunshot wound.

A 22-year-old man was shot to death just before midnight Friday in the 1700 block of King Drive in Gentilly, New Orleans police said.

NOPD officers found the man suffering from multiple gunshots in the backyard of a home in the 1600 block of Mirabeau Avenue. He died at the scene.

Detectives believe the man was shot in the 1700 block of King and ran to the yard of the Mirabeau address before collapsing.
