• LAFRENIERE PARK CONCERTS: Mojeaux will perform from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday as part of the fall concert series at the Al Copeland Meadow Concert Stage at Lafreniere Park, 3000 Downs Blvd., Metairie. Then, a special event is planned for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday when a kickoff party for the National Night Out Against Crime program is planned. Performers include Karma and Ray Scott. Then from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, during the annual Pet Fest, there will be special performances by Remedy, The Top Cats and Meghan Linsey, who was a runner-up on “The Voice.” Admission is free, but no outside food or drinks will be allowed. Concessions will be available inside the park.
  • SENIORS FAIR AND MARKET: St. Francis Xavier Church Parish Sharing Program will hold a free Seniors Fair and Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Hall at the church, 444 Metairie Road, Metairie. Vendors will offer products and services relating to health, safety and protection; living options; social involvement; and financial and legal topics. In the school cafeteria, market vendors will offer jewelry; Christmas ornaments; Catholic books, gifts and music; art; crocheted afghans; and local honey and jellies. Takeout food items will include quart packages of sausage and shrimp gumbo, red beans, jambalaya, homemade Heavenly Hash candy, cranberry bread, cornbread and a 6-ounce jar of raw honey.
  • COLONIAL GARDEN CLUB: The Colonial Garden Club will meet at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the home of Geralyn Johnson on Riverside Drive in Harahan. President Susan Hardeman will welcome members and conduct the meeting. Diane Richardson will give the horticulture report, and Jeanne Turner will announce the garden of the fall winner. Cara Velez, owner of Escapes Flowers and Act One Events, will give a presentation on designing Halloween table arrangements. After the meeting, lunch will be served by co-hostesses Priscilla Cummings, Jean Dietzway, Darleen Landry, Linda St. John and Mary Wendt.
  • FALL FEST: A Fall Fest Trunk or Treat event will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Little Farms United Church of Christ, 135 Sauve Road, River Ridge. There will be pony rides, face painting, a space walk and a firetruck to admire. Trunk or Treat will be at 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Admission is free, and food and drinks will be available for purchase.
