A LaPlace man faces charges in St. Charles and Orleans parishes after he allegedly kidnapped a woman last week in Treme and raped her in St. Charles Parish before releasing her in Kenner.

Kevin Allen, 20, was arrested Friday and remained jailed Monday at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center on a $1 million bail, said Capt. Pat Yoes, a St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

Allen was booked on charges of aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping and armed robbery.

Investigators in New Orleans obtained a warrant for Allen for a count of aggravated kidnapping, said Officer Hilal Williams, a New Orleans Police Department spokeswoman.

The 19-year-old woman was abducted about 3 a.m. Aug. 17 in the 700 block of North Villere Street.

Authorities said she was walking in the area when a gray Ford Focus pulled up and two men got out.

Yoes said Allen put a towel over the victim’s face while the second man, whose identity remains unknown, put her in a choke hold and forced her into the car.

Allen then allegedly pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and told the victim he would shoot her if she screamed.

Allen and the other man drove the victim to a wooded area in Montz and raped her multiple times, Yoes said.

She was released about 8 a.m. in the 2600 block of Augusta Street in Kenner. She flagged down a passerby, who called police.

Yoes said Allen and his accomplice stole the victim’s purse, cellphone, money and ID cards before releasing her.

Authorities in St. Charles and Orleans continue to search for the second man.

Yoes said additional arrests are expected.
