A murder victim who spent his last breaths running from the scene of a shooting in Gentilly on Monday night has been identified as Harold Martin, 30.
Coroner Jeffrey Rouse said Martin died of a single gunshot wound.
Police Department Spokesman Officer Frank Robertson said Martin exchanged gunfire with one or more suspects in the 2500 block of Prentiss Avenue, then fled to the 2500 block of Mendez Street, where he collapsed on a porch. He died on the scene, with a loaded pistol by his side.
Police were interviewing someone to determine a motive Monday night, but had not announced any suspects as of Tuesday.
