Sisco chosen as community editor

Veteran New Orleans journalist Annette Sisco has been named New Orleans community news editor for The Advocate’s New Orleans edition.

A former community news editor from The Times-Picayune, Sisco is joining The Advocate’s New Orleans bureau and will head up The Advocate’s community and cultural news coverage in the Crescent City area.

Sisco knows the New Orleans area and its unique culture and traditions. She brings to The Advocate more than 30 years experience with an assortment of New Orleans area publications.

Sisco began her career with the West Bank Guide, a biweekly community newspaper serving West Jefferson and the Algiers areas.

Sisco spent 20 years on the staff of the Times-Picayune working on the copy desk and the op-ed section before becoming community news editor for the Orleans Picayune weekly section in late 2010.

Sisco’s first task with The Advocate will be helping with planning and development of a weekly section devoted to community, society, arts and cultural news of the New Orleans area.

Details of the weekly section are still in the works, but it is expected to debut in early December as a once-a-week part of The Advocate’s New Orleans edition.
