Despite gray skies and scattered rain, all six of the parades scheduled for the New Orleans area Sunday plan to roll. Two of them have been slightly postponed.

A flash flood watch was issued early Sunday morning for areas south of Lake Pontchartrain. According to the advisory, bands of showers and thunderstorms are expected until 4 p.m.

As of 12:30 skies had cleared, and Carrolton, the first of three parades scheduled for the Uptown route, began to make its way down Magazine Street.

It will be followed by King Arthur and the Krewe of Alla.

The Mystical Krewe of Barkus, a dog parade that runs through the French Quarter, is delayed until 2:30 p.m., according to WWL radio. It was previously scheduled for 2 p.m.

In Slidell, the 29th Dionysus parade was also moved back 30 minutes. It’s now scheduled to roll at 1:30 p.m.

And in Madisonville, the 40th annual Krewe of Tchefuncte boat parade will cruise down the riverfront starting at 2 p.m.
