Girl Scouts Louisiana East will honor four community leaders, including state Rep. Julie Stokes, of Kenner, during its Women of Distinction awards luncheon May 11 in Baton Rouge. The other honorees are former Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco; Mae Calvin Belton, chair-elect of the Baton Rouge Symphony; and LSU Lady Tiger’s basketball coach Nikki Caldwell-Fargas.

“It is our pleasure to recognize these women for their accomplishments and dedication to excellence,” said Mary-Patricia Wray, who is chairing the luncheon, assisted by committee members Linda Law Clark, Bethany France, and Robyn Merrick.

“As inspiring leaders and role models, our honorees have dedicated themselves to making our community a better place, demonstrating Girl Scout values in all they do,” said Wray.

Tickets for the awards luncheon are $75 per person, with proceeds going to support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in southeast Louisiana. Tickets are available at www.gsle.org/wod. For information, contact Jill Pollard at (504) 355-5871 or jpollard@gsle.org.
