Nicholas Donewar, of Luling, recently earned the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout Award.
He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 1101, headquartered at American Legion Post 64 in Gretna, and has held key positions such as quartermaster, patrol leader and senior patrol leader. He was crew leader during his troop’s Philmont Horseback Cavalcade in 2013.
His leadership project involved maintenance and rehabilitation of sections of the Louisiana Medal of Honor Park in Belle Chasse. In addition to painting and landscaping tasks, Nick’s team planted saplings and maintained trees that were planted as part of his older brother’s Eagle project five years ago.
Nick is a graduate of Christian Brothers School and is a junior at Brother Martin High School.
