At Lawrence D. Crocker College Prep in New Orleans, 25 students in grades three through five will receive dance instruction and see dance performances next year through the School to Stage pilot program presented by the 100 Black Men of Metro New Orleans and the New Orleans Ballet Theatre.
“It is our hope that this will inspire a new generation to love and appreciate the arts and encourage other organizations to develop avenues to provide similar enrichment programs to elementary schools throughout New Orleans,” said Jonathan Wilson, president of 100 Black Men of Metro New Orleans.
The School to Stage pilot program will run during the 2016-17 school year. The men’s group will provide 25 students with ballet attire and equipment, including leotards, tights, ballet slippers and a portable barre, and will pay all other fees associated with the program.
