One person died in a shooting on Interstate 10 East early Monday, New Orleans police said.

Shortly before 1 a.m., police found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside of a red Chevrolet Monte Carlo near the Crowder Boulevard on-ramp, the New Orleans Police Department said in a news release. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has not been identified. No further details were immediately available.
