Woman robbed on Newcomb Boulevard

Three men robbed a 50-year-old woman at gunpoint about 10:30 p.m. Saturday as she got out of her vehicle in the driveway at her home on Newcomb Boulevard in the University neighborhood Uptown, police reported.

The men approached the woman and one, armed with a handgun, demanded her purse and keys, according to the report. When the woman screamed, the man struck her with the gun, knocking her to the ground.

The men then grabbed her purse and fled in her vehicle.

Man shot by home invaders in N.O. East

A 28-year-old man is recovering from a gunshot wound after two people showed up on his doorstep in New Orleans East and tried to rob him, according to police.

The man answered his door in the 13000 block of North Nemours Street about 3:50 a.m. Sunday to find a man and a woman pointing guns at him, according to the report. The pair entered the house and demanded money, but the victim told them he didn’t have any.

The woman then shot the victim and both robbers fled.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was in good condition, according to Officer Frank Robertson, an NOPD spokesman.

Two women robbed on Lake Willow Drive

Two women were sitting in a car in the 7200 block of Lake Willow Drive in New Orleans East about 10:15 p.m. Saturday when another vehicle pulled up and a man with a gun got out, police said.

He demanded the women, ages 29 and 30, open the car door. One did, and the man grabbed her purse. He then got back in his vehicle and drove away.

Police seek help to ID armed robbery suspect

Police are asking for help in finding the man who robbed a man who was renovating a house in the 7th Ward on Thursday morning.

The 31-year-old victim was working on a house in the 1800 block of Touro Street about 9:25 a.m. when another man entered the home and asked if he was hiring, according to the New Orleans Police Department. When the victim said “no,” the robber produced a gun and demanded money, according to the report.

The victim gave the robber $130 in cash and the robber fled on foot.

The robber, who police believe may be responsible for other armed robberies in the area, was described as being in his mid-20s, 5-foot-7 and about 220 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark pants and a white baseball cap and was armed with a silver pistol. Police released a computer sketch of him Sunday.

Anyone with information on the robber is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111. A cash reward of up to $2,500 is available.

Car alarm scares off would-be robbers

Two men attempted to rob a man as he pulled into his driveway in the 6100 block of Dorothea Street in New Orleans East early Sunday morning, New Orleans police reported.

The man was approached about 12:45 a.m. by two men armed with guns who demanded his car keys, according to the report. He refused and activated his car alarm, which apparently caused the robbers to flee.

Man makes big haul at Earhart restaurant

An armed robber made off with about $800 from the Hungry Howie’s restaurant in the 7800 block of Earhart Boulevard, New Orleans police reported.

The robber, armed with a gun, approached the cashier about 2:50 a.m. Sunday and demanded money from the register and safe, according to the report.

The cashier complied, and the suspect fled with the money.
