Man fatally shot Sunday in Mid-City

A man was fatally shot in Mid-City on Sunday night, according to Officer Frank Robertson, a spokesman for the New Orleans Police Department.

Robertson said the killing happened about 10 p.m. in the 2800 block of Palmyra Street.

Orleans Parish Coroner Jeffrey Rouse identified the victim as 34-year-old Walter Jackson.

Officers arrived at the scene to find a man shot to death inside a black Toyota in the driveway of a residence, according to Robertson.

No one has been arrested in the incident, and police have yet to identify any suspects.

Victims in Lakeview crash identified

Two victims of a fatal car accident that happened last week in Lakeview were identified Monday by Coroner Jeffrey Rouse.

Rouse said the victims were Dumas Wade Jr., 27, and his 3-year-old son Desmond Wade.

The accident happened Friday night in the 300 block of Lakeshore Drive.

About a dozen vehicles burglarized in Arabi

About a dozen vehicles, most of which were unlocked, were burglarized in Arabi over the weekend, according to St. Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlmann.

The incidents happened Friday night and early Saturday morning, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Money, electronics, ammunition and other items were reported stolen.

Three men were seen on a video surveillance system at a home where one of the burglaries happened, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Pohlmann urged residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuables from them.

Girl, 13, stabbed by 7-year-old in N.O. East

A 13-year-old girl was stabbed by a 7-year-old boy Sunday afternoon in New Orleans East, according to police.

The incident happened about 4 p.m. at Dreux Avenue and Babylon Street.

The boy got angry with the victim’s sister and got a knife from the kitchen. When the victim approached the boy from behind, he turned around and cut the victim, police said.

JPSO seeking man who robbed Metairie store

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is seeking a man who entered a convenience store in the 4900 block of Veterans Boulevard in Metairie about 4:30 p.m. Sunday. He selected an item and approached the cashier. When the cashier opened the register, the man reached over the counter and removed cash from the drawer before fleeing.

The JPSO released a surveillance photo of the man, described as white, 20 to 30 years old, about 6 feet tall and having a slim build. Anyone recognizing him is asked to contact the JPSO Robbery Section at (504) 364-5376.

Rape of 12-year-old reported Sunday

Police reported an aggravated rape Sunday evening in the 8600 block of Belfast Street in Hollygrove.

They said a 12-year-old engaged in sexual intercourse with a 19-year-old man.

Man, woman robbed Monday in Carrollton

A man and a woman were robbed early Monday morning in the 1400 block of Dante Street in Carrollton.

The 31-year-old woman and 29-year-old man were approached just after midnight by two armed men who demanded their property.
