The Jefferson Parish Department of Environmental Affairs will collect household hazardous materials from Jefferson Parish residents from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in the parking lot of the Joseph S. Yenni Building, 1221 Elmwood Park Blvd., in Elmwood.

Residents should enter from the Citrus Boulevard side of the property.

The following items will be accepted: Mercury containing equipment such as thermostats, thermometers and elemental mercury; paint including latex coatings, oil paint, varnishes, and wood preservers in original container; lawn and garden products including pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers, bug sprays; and household cleaning products such as cleaning solvents, corrosive cleaners, oven cleaners, drain cleaners, disinfectants and degreasers.

Also, computers, monitors, printers, radios, camcorders, VCR’s, CD players, DVD players, MP3 players, telephones, stereos, Xboxes, PlayStations, Wii, digital cameras and digital video cameras, digital picture frames, portable navigation and GPS devices, fax machines, circuit boards (of any type), processors, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), toner cartridges and ink jet cartridges will be collected.

Items that will not be collected includes nonresidential waste of any kind, televisions, copy machines, Styrofoam including peanuts, ammunition, power tools, fluorescent and neon light bulbs, lighting ballast and propane tanks.
