A man was arrested Sunday in a June 6 shooting in the 3000 block of Bienville Street that left two people wounded.

New Orleans police said they think Jesse Banks, 30, shot two men, ages 29 and 32, about 3:30 p.m. June 6.

On Sunday, police said, Banks was spotted driving a Nissan Altima not far away, in the 2200 block of Bienville. When an officer tried to pull him over, he abandoned the car in the 2300 block of Bienville.

Police said Banks tossed away a pistol during a brief foot chase, then broke into a home in the 2300 block. Police surrounded the house and sent in the NOPD’s K-9 Unit. One dog bit Banks on the arm, and he was taken to the hospital.

After being treated, Banks was booked Tuesday on counts of aggravated battery by shooting, being a felon in possession of a firearm, simple burglary and resisting an officer.
