Update, 1: 15 p.m.

The double shooting in St. Roch Wednesday “appears to have started as a dispute over money,” police said.

A fight started when one man punched another, and the second man produced a gun and shot the first man in the leg, police said.

A fight over the gun ensued, and the owner of the gun shot himself during the struggle, police said.

Both men’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

New Orleans police are investigating a double shooting in St. Roch Wednesday.

The shooting occurred in the 2500 block of North Derbigny Street. Two people were shot, and their conditions are unknown, police said.

Police are also investigating a separate shooting in the 4300 block of LaSalle Street. The victim fled the scene and ran to the 2400 block of Louisiana Avenue, police said.

The shooting was reported around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
