New Orleans police are investigating the fatal shooting of man who was found suffering from a gunshot wound in a car in the 900 block of St. Ann Street, according to a news release from the NOPD.

Around 12:48 a.m., officers on patrol in the area were notified of shots fired. They found the victim in the driver’s seat of a black 2006 Ford Mustang suffering from a gunshot wound to the jaw area. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died. The two passengers were not injured.

Both passengers are being detained and questioned regarding their involvement in the incident.

The identity of the victim was being withheld pending notification of family members.

The investigation was ongoing.
