An afternoon shooting on Earhart Blvd. left a young girl with a bullet wound to her arm and a 26-year-old man struck in the side, an NOPD spokesman said Thursday.

The pair were riding in a silver Buick traveling in the right lane of Earhart, heading toward downtown New Orleans. Around 3:30 p.m., a silver Lexus SUV pulled up alongside the Buick, and somebody inside opened fire. The driver of the Buick was not injured, said Officer Frank Robertson, an NOPD spokesman.

The incident took place around the intersection of Eagle and Earhart. As of about 4:30 p.m., traffic was shutdown in that area on Earhart.

Robertson said none of the injuries to the victims are considered life threatening. Police are looking for the silver Lexus SUV.
