A Waggaman man suspected of taking part in a shooting near a party bus in Harvey that claimed a 19-year-old bystander’s life has surrendered to authorities, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Furnell Celestine, 22, turned himself in to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office on Thursday night. He is accused of second degree murder in connection with the death of Clamisha Houston, who had just exited a party bus in the Lowe’s parking lot.
Houston was “caught in a crossfire” between two groups of men who had gotten into a fight on the bus, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies have previously arrested Davin LaBranch, 18, on second degree murder. They allege that he and Celestine opened fire together on another group of unidentified male teens “without provocation.” The other group then returned fire, according to authorities.
A Sheriff’s Office detective who happened to be in the area heard the gunshots and raced to the scene, but Houston could not be saved.
The Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with information on the killing to call the Investigations Bureau at (504) 364-5300, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
