The AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour is coming to the New Orleans area.

On Monday morning, local officials announced a two-year deal between the professional sports organization and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation to host the AVP New Orleans Open from May 21-24.

The four-day, nationally televised event will bring more than 60 of the tour's top male and female players to Kenner, a kickoff to the 2015 season.

Others will participate through an open qualifier.

Temporary courts and seating will be constructed near the levee by the Pontchatrain Center.

The 2015 schedule has yet to be released.

Volleyball legends at Kenner's Coconut Beach Sand Sports Complex for Monday's announcement included AVP star Kerri Walsh Jennings, a three-time Olympic gold medalist (2004, 2008, 2012) who is also the winningest female beach volleyball player of all time, and Olympic gold medalist (2008) Phil Dalhaussser, whose 76 men's tournament (worldwide) victories rank seventh all-time.

The AVP is entering its 32nd season.
