A Jefferson Parish Grand Jury has indicted Ashante Harris, 24, with second-degree murder and Carl Brown Jr., 31, with manslaughter in connection with the shooting a death last year in Marrero.

Isaac Jones was shot during an armed robbery attempt in the 600 block of Meyers Boulevard on Oct. 29 but died months later after being taken back to a West Bank hospital in January.

Harris and Brown, both from New Orleans, have pleaded not guilty and are being held in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on $500,000 and 250,000 bond, respectively.

Harris faces life in prison, while Brown could get up to 40 years if convicted.

The case has been allotted to Judge Glenn Ansardi of the 24th Judicial District Court in Gretna.
