A man in his late 40s was found injured after reports of a fight late Sunday morning near Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, New Orleans police said.

Several witnesses reported the fight near Bourbon and Governor Nicholls around 10:45 a.m. Sunday, and when officers arrived they found a man in his late 40s “suffering from lacerations to his body,” said NOPD Officer Juan Barnes, a departmental spokesman. The man is believed to be possibly homeless and the weapon used to hit him may have been a metal pipe, Barnes said.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening, Barnes said.

The investigation is continuing, Barnes said, and further details were not immediately available.
